We are the Mannequin Head Recycling Project! We have started a program to recycle the mannequin heads that are used in beauty schools across the country. Over 500,000 of these heads are used and thrown into landfills every year! We want to put a stop to this by offering a "safe haven" for used mannequin heads! By sending the heads to us, you will be helping to save the environment by giving these heads a second life! We had the chance to speak at Laney College in San Francisco, California at a convention by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in December, 2011. We spoke on behalf of the Mannequin Head Recycling Project in the hope of promoting our message to a wider audience!
SCHOLARSHIPS:
We offer scholarships to ALL participating schools! For every head that you donate, $2.00 will be added to a tally toward a student in your school. Once you reach $100.00 (50 heads given), your school is eligible to "cash out" your scholarship amount. You have the choice to continue building the amount higher before cashing it out as well. How you would like to decide which student or students receive the scholarship amount is solely up to your school, but the scholarship MUST go to a student! SHIPPING:
Our second year goal is to receive at least 10 percent (50,000) of the heads used in the US. If you notify us prior to shipping, we will send you a pre-paid shipping label that you can print out and put on your package! That way there's no upfront costs to you! However, if you send them to us without a pre-paid label, we will reimburse you for shipping costs up to $2 per head via USPS! Contact Us for more information.
PACKAGING HEADS FOR SHIPMENT:
We now have new canvas bags that can be sent to all schools that are willing to participate nationwide. CLICK HERE FOR A TUTORIAL VIDEO! The process is very simple. We send you the canvas bag as well as a small priority bag big enough for one head. You fill the canvas bag with approximately 30 heads and tie it shut, then place one head into the small priority bag and seal it shut. Contact us and we will email you a shipping label for the canvas bag and the small priority bag which you can print off. Then the Post Office will come and pick them all up. The reason we have you send one head in it's own priority bag is so the Post Office will come pick it up. They only do pick-ups if you have a priority shipment, so by having one head sent priority, they will come out to get the small priority bag and they'll pick up the canvas bag as well, thus saving you and your school's staff from having to personally take them to the post office. DIRECT PICK-UP:
If you are a resident of Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho or Nevada, we may be able to pick up your heads in person, AT NO CHARGE TO YOU! Please Contact Us for further information.
